Questions and Answers

What's the Museum about?
First off, THIS IS NOT A WHO'S HOW OF THE MARTIAL ARTS, and, THIS IS NOT A SPORTS MUSEUM.
The Martial Arts History Museum is an historical look at Asian artforms and their impact on Western Society. Through the museum, children will learn about Asian art, Asian music, Asian dances and Asian traditions which contribute to Asian martial art forms.
In addition, the museum is a cultural community center in which it holds a variety of seminars, workshops, language classes and more to educate the community on the Asian culture.
We currently focus on Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Filipino artforms, but will later expand to include other Asian countries.
At the museum, children and visitors will learn about the Japanese Samurai, the Hwa Rang warriors, the Chinese Opera and more. But most important, they will learn how Asian history became part of American history.

Is this a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization?
The Martial Arts History Museum IS A 501(C)(3) CHARITABLE, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION. Any gifts or donations ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. All memberships or donations are sent a letter indicating that they can use the information provided for tax purposes.

Is this an  interactive Museum?
Yes it is. Upon every tour, children will have the opportunity to learn some drumming techniques for both the Chinese drums and Taiko drums. In addition, every child will participate in playing a variety of Asian instruments and learn the basic steps of Lion Dancing. Coloring is also part of the museum tour for kids to have something educational to take home with them. Additional interactive items will be added. Children have a lot of fun here.

How can I become part of the Museum?
     1) Memberships. Memberships help considerably and are tax-deductible.
     2) Donations: Because the Museum is a non-profit, charitable organization, any donations (whether monetary or in-kind), are tax-deductible.
I wish we could give memberships to everyone but that would defeat the purpose of raising funds for the Museum. Even if you are Hall of Fame inductee or the president of the Museum, memberships are not complimentary (yes, I had to pay for my membership as well).

What kinds of items will the Museum have?
We have both historical items and cultural items, etc. For example, we have a ton of samurai swords, 1920 kendo outfits, antique judo outfits and more.

Will you have anything from the martial arts movies?
Definitely. One of the main influences of martial arts has been in the movie industry. Therefore, we have created a section for movies, television and print. You'll see items from Enter the Dragon, Kung Pow movie and more. We also have our own in-house theatre for film screenings and stage for performances.

What about seminars, will you have them at the Museum?
This will be the home of the martial arts. It will not only be a place that preserves the history of the arts, but a place of learning and education. We will not only have seminars, but we plan to have ongoing classes, a resource library and more. These will be integrated in steps, but again, the whole idea is education.

Will it have a Hall of Fame?
Eventually. Our priority are the items first, then we'll work on the hall display.

What impact do you think the Museum will have?
