Michael Matsuda
Museum Founder and President

Michael is the founder and president of the Martial Arts History
Museum since 1999 and serves as its Chairman of the Board since 2004.
As an entrepreneur, he was the founder and publisher of Martial Art
Magazine in 1983 and founder and director of the California Regional
Karate Championships held at Cal State Northridge from 1985-1988. He
is an award-winning producer being selected twice as one of the Top
100 Producers in the Nation by Producer magazine and graced its cover.
He was the creator of the “Martial Arts Today Show” and wrote,
produced and directed the three part documentary series, “The Martial
Arts Influence on America.” He has also written over three dozen
biographies on pioneers of the martial arts.
He is considered the leading historian on the Chinese art
of Tai Shing Pek Kwar kung fu, a historian on the Chinese arts of kung
fu, a historical resource for martial arts
in America and has co-authored three books on the history of Asian
martial arts. He has written over 50 articles on Asian art forms for
such publications as Black Belt and Inside Kung Fu magazine.
Michael served as the director of the San Fernando Valley Health Fair,
the Starbash Martial Arts Convention in Las Vegas and currently serves
as one of the directors of the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in
Little Tokyo. Michael
was also the director of the Blue Cross conference in Indiana and currently
directs the Museum Ceremony fundraiser for the Museum each year.
In 1999, Michael became the co-Chief Executive Officer for Martialinfo.com, the biggest martial arts website on the Internet.
Michael created a marketing campaign that advanced the website from
100 hits per month to nearly 100,000 hits per day. He was also the
advertising director for Los Angeles Valley College and production
manager for a Southern California Travel magazine. He was also the Art
Director for several newspapers and magazines.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management, an
Associate degree in Journalism, a certificate in Graphic Design and
has been continually enrolled in a number of college courses in
marketing, accounting, history, graphic display for the past 25 years.
He also attended the American Film Institute for three years. He served as the New Media Manager for the past 10 years for Wellpoint
and was the winner of Wellpoint’s prestigious “Honor Award” given to
those who have saved the most funds for the company. He has been
involved in the marketing campaign for the Save The Children
Foundation, the Red Cross Blood Drive and the Tsunami Relief Fund. He
has been inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame and has been
practicing the martial arts since 1968. |
Art Camacho

Art Camacho has
served on the Board of Directors for the Martial Arts History Museum
since 2004. He is a world renowned film director of more than 20
feature films and 40 others as a fight choreographer. Prior to films,
Art produced and directed a variety of television commercials for
Univision and Telemundo to reach the Spanish language market. As a
film producer, Art’s responsibilities included attracting investors
and bringing the film on time and on budget. He has also served as an
account executive for developing marketing campaigns and creating
cost-efficient media buys for a Spanish language advertising company.
He has received commendations for his work from the Spanish
entertainment market and the Southern California Motion Picture
Council. Art was also the board member of the Latin Jazz Institute and
Foundation that hosted Jazz benefits at the Greek Amphitheater to
raise funds for Youth at Risk. He is also the producer of several
fundraising campaigns for the Museum including the stuntfighting
workshop and director series classes. In 2003, Art invested in the
Museum by hosting its first dinner Museum Ceremony.

Fighter, 13 Dead Men, Soft Target, X-Treme Fighter, Redemption, Final
Payback, Point Doom, Gangland, Recoil, The Cutoff and more.

Rafael Kosche
Business Owner - Valley Martial Arts Supply

Rafael has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Martial
Arts History Museum since 2004. He is currently the owner and operator
of Valley Martial Arts Supply in Southern California. Upon taking over
the business 15 years ago, Rafael and his wife Joan developed an
effective marketing and advertising campaign that has increased
revenue 20% every year. He is considered one of the leading
authorities on Asian weaponry and serves as the technical expert for
choosing weapons for such films as Kill Bill, The Last Samurai, The
National Geographic Channel and more. He serves as the product
distributor for fundraising organizations such as the Los Angeles
School district and the Red Cross. He was the founder of Expert Auto
Detailing as well as REVEME, SA, a physical therapy equipment
distributor. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Information
Systems and Computer Resource Management. He served his country as
Captain in the United States Marine Corps and worked with Defense
Finance and Accounting operations. He was the foreman for the
Universal Studios Amphitheater, manager and event planner for a
variety of fundraising activities and host of cultural seminars and
programs. As a weapons dealer, Rafael continually assists the Museum
by lending and purchasing Asian artifacts and weaponry.

James Lew
Film Director - Business Owner

James
has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Martial Arts
History Museum since 2007. He is the CEO for a physical training
supply company called DragonMaster which he formed in 1981. He is the
primary host and consultant for A&E, National Geographic and the
History Channel's documentaries on Asian arts. He is an author and
considered one of the leading figures in martial arts history for the
past 35 years. James has also been the primary choreographer and stunt
coordinator for a variety of theatrically released films. Starring in
a number of block buster films, James is the producer and director of
several of his own films including "18 Fingers of Death." James is
also the president of his own Wireworks production company and is
involved in a large number of fundraising activities including
seminars, workshops and special appearances to help raise awareness
and funding for the museum. James is also a former world champion in
the martial arts and has graced the cover of over a dozen magazines.

Hour, Best of the Best, Big Trouble in Little China, Time Cop and many

Alan Goldberg is
the founder and publisher of Action Martial Arts Magazine. He runs the
largest martial arts convention in the world in New Jersey. He is a
business owner and accomplished martial arts instructor. He also
coordinates the annual Action Hall of Fame Dinners and served his
three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Martial Arts
History Museum from 2004 to 2007.
